Description	:	On October 2, 2015, Betty Jane McCaffrey Mizner went home to be with her Lord Jesus. Born on December 9, 1922, to William and Winifred McCaffery, in Alexandria, South Dakota, Betty spent the first 55 years of her life living in that small rural farming community. Betty graduated from the Alexandria High School and worked in the local dry goods store and Post Office. Betty had a wonderful singing voice and played the organ for her church. Read More	On October 2, 2015, Betty Jane McCaffrey Mizner went home to be with her Lord Jesus. Born on December 9, 1922, to William and Winifred McCaffery, in Alexandria, South Dakota, Betty spent the first 55 years of her life living in that small rural farming community. Betty graduated from the Alexandria High School and worked in the local dry goods store and Post Office. Betty had a wonderful singing voice and played the organ for her church. She was often requested to sing at local weddings and funerals. In 1952, Betty married Leo Theodore Mizner. From that time on, she became a homemaker. Betty and Leo had four children: Bill, Barb, and twin sons, Kevin and Keith. In 1977, Leo and Betty moved to Hanford CA, where they managed the Lerner Oil gas station on Grangeville Blvd and later became the Lord's housekeepers at the First United Methodist Church. In the later years of her life, she attended Hanford First Baptist Church. Betty was always known for her quick wit and love of a good joke, her love for Christian mystery novels, crossword puzzles and Scrabble, and her baking skills, particularly her wonderful pies. Her pies were always a favorite at church functions and family gatherings. Betty truly loved the Lord and was a good friend indeed, a wonderful mother and grandmother. There was always room at her table and room in her heart. She was preceeded in death by her husband Leo, and her brothers Art and Robert. She is survived by her step-children, Shirley (George) Mowry of Presho, South Dakota, Berne Thury (Jack Schnieder) of Bloomington, Minn, and Gene (Marina) Mizner of Caldwell, Idaho, her children Bill (Kathy) Mizner of Norfolk Nebraska, Barb (Russ) Curry of Hanford, CA, Kevin (Sharon) Mizner of Tulare, CA and Keith Mizner of Fresno, and 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. The celebration of her life well-lived will be on Saturday, October 24th, 2015, at 10:30 AM, at First Baptist Hanford, located at 13½ Avenue and Grangeville Blvd. Immediately following the service, lunch and family-made pies will be served in her memory. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the First United Methodist Church Hanford or First Baptist-Hanford.
