Description	:	Betty Jean Jackson Collins passed away peacefully at home on December 11th, she was eighty-two. Betty was surrounded by her loving family throughout her illness. She died after a brief struggle with cancer. She was born at home in Randolph County, North Carolina and was delivered by her grandfather, Dr. Alfred M. Bulla. She comes from a... Read More	Betty Jean Jackson Collins passed away peacefully at home on December 11th, she was eighty-two. Betty was surrounded by her loving family throughout her illness. She died after a brief struggle with cancer. She was born at home in Randolph County, North Carolina and was delivered by her grandfather, Dr. Alfred M. Bulla. Voted most beautiful child in 1937 (of the whole world, in this writers opinion, we have the mug to prove it!) Betty was a sensitive and kind child, whose only fear was a wayward mule. She comes from a long line of educated descendants. Betty graduated from Appalachian State University with a Teachers Degree and the heart of the star basketball player, Tom "Perk" Collins. They were married over 50 years. They had three children in North Carolina: Tom, Bill, and Betsy before relocating to California in 1961 where Holly was born. Betty and Tom were both very active in youth sports as were there children. Betty enjoyed traveling with her family, her quilting, and the First Presbyterian Church. After their children left home, Betty entered the workforce working in retail, the 1980 Census, before working for cable companies where she retired at age 76 from an accounting position at Time Warner. Betty's front door and dinner table were always open and her home was welcoming to generations of children who continue to visit this day. Her husband Tom preceded her in death in 2008. She is survived by her four children, three daughters-in-law, three grandchildren and twin great-granddaughters. A visitation will be held on Wed. December 18, 2013, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, Fullerton. A memorial service will be held on Thurs. December 19, 2013, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fluke Foundation, PO Box 222099, Carmel, CA 93922.
