Read More	"Betty Jean Tyler was born April 15, 1927, the daughter of Wayne and Alpha Sayers Searcy. She died this Saturday, November 26, 2005 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowas, at the age of seventy-eight. Betty was born on a farm near Laredo, Missouri. She received her education in schools in Laredo, Missouri and Cresco, Iowa, and graduated from the Kirksville School of Nursing in 1949. After completing her education, she worked as an RN in several locations and taught First Aid with the Red Cross and Public Health Immunizations. On June 25, 1949, Betty was united in marriage to Warren E. "Ty" Tyler at the Baptist parsonage in Centerville, Iowa. The couple settled in Radcliffe, Iowa where Warren was a Dr. of Veterinary Medicine and owned and operated a veterinary office that Betty helped in. The couple were blessed with the birth of four children. In 1969, Warren took a job with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the couple moved to Schleswig. In her leisure time, she enjoyed poetry, oil painting on canvas, canning and cooking and was well known for pecan pies that the Schleswig Volunteer Fire Department sold during fund raising events. But mostly, she enjoyed baking pies for family and friends. She was at her best around children and demonstrated the love she had for her Lord and Savior in many ways, but was deeply involved in the church by teaching confirmation and Sunday School at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig and their Ladies Guild. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren in 1989; and one sister, Mary Virginia; her mother and father-in-law; and one brother-in-law, Larry Burmaster. Survivors include three sons and a daughter, 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; two sisters, and one brother. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the United Chruch of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Chris Burtnett officiated the service and graveside rites held at the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig.
