Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lancaster. Mrs. Friend, who was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, died Jan. 7, 2004, at her residence. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lancaster. Mrs. Friend, who was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, died Jan. 7, 2004, at her residence. She was born Oct. 19, 1927, in Lancaster, to the late Archie and Susan (Hyme) Hanna. Mrs. Friend was a volunteer at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was a pastoral assistant at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She also enjoyed taking part in many other activities at the church as well. Surviving are a son, James Alan (Pam) Friend of Hebron; daughters, Vicki (Randy) Gillham of Newark, and Susan Roberts of Hebron; grandchildren, Jeff Gillham, Mark Gillham, Joe Friend and Jon Friend; sister, Lucille (Preston) Male of Canton; brothers, Mark (Earlene) Hanna of Thornville, and Tom (Pat) Hanna of Bremen; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday with a wake service being at 7:30 p.m. at the Kirkersville Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service, 285 E.
