A funeral was held at Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings, S.D., with the Rev. Thomas Heck officiating. A visitation was held at the funeral home with a scripture service. Interment was at St. Thomas More Catholic Cemetery in Brookings. Mrs. Jacobsen was born April 21, 1922, in Union County, S.D., the daughter of Harry W. and Josephine (Collins) Deane. She attended grade school in Beresford, S.D., and graduated from Brookings High School in 1940. After attending South Dakota State University for two years, she married Edmund S. Jacobsen in 1942. The couple lived in Buffalo, N.Y., Rockford, Ill., various cities in South Dakota, and Albuquerque, N.M. In 1968, Mr. Jacobsen was hired as director for the Division of Public Health, and the family moved to Anchorage, where they lived until 1974. They lived again in Anchorage from 1981 to 1987, when Mr. Jacobsen retired and they returned to Brookings. She was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed playing bridge, camping, painting, ceramics and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jacobsen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband; son, James of Anchorage; sons and daughters-in-law, Edmund J. and Pat of Pierre, S.D., Harry and Joanne of Brookings, Scott and Susan of Cottage Grove, Minn., Peter and Dani of Anchorage, and Paul and Kathy of Auburn Hills, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary Margaret and James Dorn of Moville, Iowa.
