She was born June 5, 1927 to George and Vea (Land) Sanders in North Platte, Nebraska. She took the train to Washington at age 16 to be married. For a number of years, she worked as a grocery checker in Selah and Yakima, but her lifelong career was being a homemaker and raising a family. In 1959 she married Darold H. Ringer and Ellensburg became her home. Together they raised six children. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother and a giving friend. She canned and cooked, sewed, camped and fished. She thrived on the business of her family, never tiring in her support of her children at school, sport, activities, and church. And as her family grew, she became a great advocate and supporter of her grandchildren. Her home was a refuge for any number of college students, friends of the family, grandchildren, just about anyone who needed some TLC. When she became a resident of Royal Vista Care Center due to advancing Alzheimer's, she continued to minister to other residents in the same way she had ministered for years. She was an active member of the Ellensburg First Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years, serving as deacon, a Sunday school teacher and member of United Presbyterian Women's Association. She supported her husband's career and developed lifetime friendships through the Ellensburg Firemen's Wive's Association. She was a leader in Community Bible Series and a member of Christian Women's Association. She was on the board of High Valley Cemetery for many years. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Darold, in 2002; her parents; and her brother, Jess Sanders; and sister, Georgie Sanders. She is survived by her six children: Bob (Kristin) Fisher, Carol (Bob) Darby, Bob Ringer, and Cathy (Bob) Thompson, all of Ellensburg, Shirley Clerf of Yakima, and Gary (Vicky) Fisher of Boise, Idaho. She was a loving grandmother to Paul (Lorrie) Clerf, Kim (Lonnie) McCann, Jason (Joleen) Ringer, Ryan (Brianne) Darby, Sarah (Johnnie) Glidewell, Cody Thompson, Kim Jones, Ellen and Corrie Fisher and Travis Ingle. She also adored her eight great grandchildren. Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. on January 21 at the Ellensburg First Presbyterian Church.
