Description	:	OBIT: Darold H. Ringer, 80, died at his home, February 6, 2002. He was born December 18, 1921 to Roy and Blanche (Nelson) Ringer. A lifelong resident of Ellensburg, he attended Damman School and graduated from Ellensburg High School. He joined the Coast Guard during World War II and served as a firefighter in Hawaii. After the war, he was hired by the Ellensburg Fire Department where he served his community for 35 years, retiring as assistant chief in 1981. He was born December 18, 1921 to Roy and Blanche (Nelson) Ringer. A lifelong resident of Ellensburg, he attended Damman School and graduated from Ellensburg High School. He joined the Coast Guard during World War II and served as a firefighter in Hawaii. After the war, he was hired by the Ellensburg Fire Department where he served his community for 35 years, retiring as assistant chief in 1981. He was also employed for many years by the Bureau of Reclamation as a mechanic. In 1959, he married Betty J. Fisher and together they raised six children. He was a devoted husband, a patient father and a loyal, giving friend. An avid sportsman, Darold also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wilma Gordon and Marvel Leonard; and brother, Gene Ringer. He is survived by his wife, Betty; and their six children; Bob (Kristin) Fisher, Bob Ringer, Cathy (Bob) Thompson, and Carol (Bob) Darby, all of Ellensburg, Shirley Clerf of Yakima and Gary (Vicky) Fisher of Boise, Idaho. He was blessed with nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., February 9 at the Ellensburg First Presbyterian Church with a luncheon to follow at the Damman School.
