Description	:	Betty Lea Holder, 97, of Auburn, died at 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center from dementia and pneumonia. Betty was born in Rockford on August 24, 1923, the daughter of Harry and Thelma (Lee) Westbrook. She married James Holder in Olathe, KS on May 10, 1947; he preceded her in death on February 21, 2012. Betty proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. She was an American Legion Member in Iowa and a member of a few bowling leagues. Betty was born in Rockford on August 24, 1923, the daughter of Harry and Thelma (Lee) Westbrook. She married James Holder in Olathe, KS on May 10, 1947; he preceded her in death on February 21, 2012. Betty proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. She was an American Legion Member in Iowa and a member of a few bowling leagues. Betty worked for Voss Equipment Rental for many years. She loved her cats and dogs and would take in every stray. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Jackie S. (Tom) Merchant of Chatham; grandchildren, Scott Merchant, Jennifer (Dick Stuart) Merchant, Todd Merchant, and Lisa Merchant; three great-grandchildren, Adam Grundler, Taylor Grundler, and Eden Stuart; and several nieces and nephews. The family will host a funeral ceremony and graveside service in Ottumwa, IA, at a later date. Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society, Springfield, IL.
