Description	:	Betty Lou Boley, 79, of Keosauqua, died at noon Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. She was born Sept. 28, 1928, in rural Birmingham to Lloyd and Hazel Lyon Johnson. She married Leo G. Boley Jr. Aug. 27, 1947, in Birmingham. He preceded her in death July 23, 2004. They resided in various locations where they were school teachers and many years in Keosauqua. She graduated from Birmingham High School in 1945 and attended Iowa Wesleyan college, Mount Pleasant, where she earned her teaching credentials. She was born Sept. 28, 1928, in rural Birmingham to Lloyd and Hazel Lyon Johnson. She married Leo G. Boley Jr. Aug. 27, 1947, in Birmingham. He preceded her in death July 23, 2004. They resided in various locations where they were school teachers and many years in Keosauqua. She graduated from Birmingham High School in 1945 and attended Iowa Wesleyan college, Mount Pleasant, where she earned her teaching credentials. She taught in Troy, Bonaparte and Upton schools, was Justice of the Peace many years in Keosauqua and had worked at Van Buren County Hospital and Van Buren County Care Center.Betty was an active member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and served many years as chairperson of the funeral lunch committee. She was a 50-year member and past president and treasurer of Beer-Barker Unit No. 113, American Legion Auxiliary, Keosauqua, and had been very active in Caravan Trails Girl Scout Council. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Ellen Boley of Keosauqua; a son, retired Navy Chief Dennis Boley of Port Orchard, Wash.; a granddaughter, HM1 Hollie L. Boley Rinschler of Chesapeake, Va., who was raised in the Boley home, and her husband, LTjg Mark C. Rinschler; a great-granddaughter, Avery M. Rinschler; other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, in Keosauqua United Methodist Church, Rev. Elsa Lawry and Rev. ellis andrews officiating. Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery, Keosauqua.
