Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua; American Legion Post 113 will conduct military honors. Open visitation began today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua; family will be present from 7-8 p.m. this evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Cancer Research, Keosauqua United Methodist Church or Van Buren County Ambulance can be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at Rural Route 2, Box 32A, Keosauqua 52565. Mr. Boley was born April 11, 1927, near Floris, the son of Leo Guy and Lula M. Curts Boley. He married Betty Lou Johnson Aug. 27, 1947, in Birmingham. After graduating from Birmingham High School in 1944, he served in the United States Army during World War II. He and his wife resided in Waterloo while he attended Iowa State Teachers College. He was employed by John Morrell Co. tree service in Ottumwa; Van Patton car dealership, Loeffler Body Shop, Barker Wire and Barker Ltd. in Keosauqua; and Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. In addition, he operated projectors at Wampus Theater in Keosauqua and the Co-Ed and drive-in theaters in Fairfield. He was a hand-lettered sign painter and greenskeeper at the former Lacey Golf Course and the River View Club. Also a teacher in Troy and Bonaparte schools, Mr. Boley served as justice of the peace and Van Buren County assessor for many years. He was an ambulance driver and handyman at Van Buren County Hospital from 1991 until his health failed. Mr. Boley was a member of American Legion Beer-Barker Post 113, volunteer fireman in Keosauqua for more than 20 years, board member of Purdom Cemetery and assistant to the Birmingham Alumni Committee. He served for many years on the parish council of Keosauqua United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Barbara Ellen Boley of Keosauqua; one son, Dennis Boley of Port Orchard, Wash.; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth Boley and David Boley; and two sisters, Frances Dooley and Dorothy Davis McFarland.
