Private family services are pending with burial in the Mt. Betty was born on September 30, 1920 to Herman and Elizabeth (Blumer) Conrad at the family farm one mile north of Beemer. She was baptized June 12, 1921 along with her siblings Clarence, Lloyd, Edgar and Ellen by their uncle, Rev. Jesse Lehman who came from Allentown, PA for the service. Betty grew up on the family farm and graduated from Beemer Public High School in 1939. Betty was proud and honored to be a Beemer Bobcat. She would often entertain anyone within listening distance at the nursing home by singing the Beemer fight song, “Hail hail to Beemer, dear old Beemer high.” Betty married her high school sweetheart, Frank Wostoupal, Jr. in 1939. To this marriage was born to sons, Conrad Frank and Robert Lloyd. Frank died suddenly on New Year’s Eve in 1960. Betty was a stay at home mom and enjoyed the role of a farmer’s wife. She eagerly looked forward to Easter time when the baby chicks would arrive and she was often found in the barn with the baby calves or baby pigs. Betty loved to wash and iron. She ironed most everything in sight. Betty loved children and cats on an equal basis. She taught Sunday school and vacation bible school at the Beemer Methodist Church and was also a leader with the Methodist Youth Fellowship group. Betty never met a cat she did not like and often had a porch full of hungry cats of all sizes, much to the disdain of some neighbors. Betty was responsible for rehoming countless numbers of orphaned cats and kittens. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, most recently being affiliated with the Wayne Chapter No. 194. Great joy and happiness was brought to Betty’s life when she married Mel Predoehl in 1965. Mel eagerly filled the role as “Gramps” to all the future grandchildren. Betty was the first employee hired at the then newly opened Medicine Chest in West Point where she stayed for 27 years. Betty was affectionately known as the Tootsie Roll lady by the countless number of children who were the recipient of her generosity in handing out treats. Betty and Mel enjoyed 27 years together before his death in 1992. Betty experienced much joy and happiness during her 95 years God granted her on earth. The long life produced its share of sorrow and sadness. Betty was the last living member of her generation on the Conrad side of the family and one of two survivors from her generation on the Blumer side of the family. Betty was predeceased by her brothers Alan, Glen, Clarence, Edgar and Lloyd Conrad, Sisters Blanche Blumer, Beata Hazelwood, and Ellen Richtig, daughter-in-law-Jeanette Wostoupal and the absolute love of her life “Kitti Foo” and “Baron” who she dearly cherished. Betty is survived by sons, Conrad F. Wostoupal and wife Nancy of South Sioux City, NE and Robert L. Wostoupal of Beemer, NE, three grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, her unofficially adopted daughter Linda Paus and Betty was so deeply honored and proud to be “God Mama” to Erica Paus. In Betty’s memory, her family requests that a good deed be done in her memory, or a donation be made to the charity of your choice." Minnick Funeral Home, West Point, Nebraska.
