He died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer. Conrad was born April 14, 1918, in Beemer. He attended Beemer Public Schools. He attended Beemer Public Schools. He served in the United States Army from 1941 until 1945. He served in Normandy in Northern France. Conrad married Dorothy Nelson Nov. 5, 1946, in Beemer. He worked 27 years as a mechanic at Delmont Oil Co. and also worked for several Beemer area farmers. He was a member of Beemer American Legion Post 159 and Modern Woodmen. Survivors include: his wife; seven sons, Fred (and wife, Joyce) Sokol of Bellevue, Bernard (and wife, Jean) Conrad of Moor Park, Calif., Steven (and wife, Lyanne) Conrad and Thomas Conrad, all of Beemer, Sidney (and wife, Sandra) Conrad of Hickman, David Conrad of Carmarillo, Calif. and Charles (and wife, Manila) Conrad of San Antonio; a sister, Betty Predoehl of West Point; two brothers, Lloyd Conrad and Clarence Conrad, both of Beemer; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a grandson, two brothers and three sisters. The Rev. Scott Evans will officiate Thursday's service. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kuzelka Funeral Home in Beemer and will continue at 9 a.m. until service time at the legion hall. Burial will be in Beemer Cemetery with military services by Fort Riley, Kansas Honor Guard and Beemer American Legion Post 159.
