Together they enjoyed 72 wonderful years of marriage. Betty devoted her life to raising her eight children. She was an avid reader and loved planting flowers, gardening, quilting, and raising animals on the farm. Betty was a beautiful person inside and out whose smile could light up any room.... She is survived by her husband Harry Carey of Chanute, Ks; daughters and their husbands, Connie Arnold Self of Augusta, Ks, Karen and Chester Hufman of Augusta, Ks, Betty Jo and Harry Wheat of Augusta, Ks, Annamae Carey of Chanute, Ks, and Sharon and Doug Corder of Alva, Ok; sons and their wives, Mike and Debbie Carey of Thornton, Co, and Jim and Theresa Carey of Augusta, Ks; daughter-in-law Sue Carey of Wray, Co; sisters and their husbands, Doris and Bob Alyea of South Dakota, and Carol McCoskey of Missouri; 27 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son David Carey; sisters Marie Hollingshead, Ruby Brann and Helen Ard; and 3 grandchildren.
