Description	:	Billings Gazette Betty V. Barkemeyer, 85, of Billings, formerly of Huntley, passed away Monday, March 2, 2009, in Deaconess Billings Clinic. Betty was born Sept 14, 1923, in Joliet, the daughter of Herman and Viola Walker. She was raised in Joliet, Whitefish, Worden and Billings, and graduated from Billings Senior High in 1941. Betty married Ralph Barkemeyer, July 13, 1942, in Livingston, and he preceded her in death in Dec. 18, 1989. They farmed and ranched in the Huntley area until his death. She was raised in Joliet, Whitefish, Worden and Billings, and graduated from Billings Senior High in 1941. Betty married Ralph Barkemeyer, July 13, 1942, in Livingston, and he preceded her in death in Dec. 18, 1989. They farmed and ranched in the Huntley area until his death. Also preceding her in death was a son, John, in July 1990. She was a homemaker most of her life. Reading and word search puzzles were her hobbies now. She had enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, crochet, oil painting, collecting antiques, rabbits, music boxes. Survivors include her son, Dan (Peggy) Barkemeyer of Miles City; daughter, Jeanne (Gene) Biever of Hot Springs, S.D.; and a sister, Marion Moots of Ballantine; and two half-sisters, Jacque (John) Reilly of Wheatland, Wyo. and Geri Brown of Granada Hills, Calif.; her brother, James (Ginny) Walker of Fullerton, Calif.; eight grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at St. John's Chapel Court. Cremation has taken place and memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Home. Smith Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
