Pedersen, 71, of Grand Island, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003 at the Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, Colo....Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Mrs. Pedersen was born on Aug. 6, 1932 on a family farm near Cushing to Alfred O. and Elfie E. M. (Jepson) Johnson. Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters and a son-in-law, Jackie Roux of Littleton, Colo., and Kim and Steve Mostek of Grand Island; one son and his special friend, Rocke Jurzenski and Becky Fisher of St. Paul; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and William Jacobs of St. Paul; and one brother and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Barbara Johnson of Manhattan, Kan. Also left to cherish her memory are five grandchildren, Tiffany Jurzenski, Justin and Jared Roux and Ashley and Joel Mostek; and her special friend, Dick Johnson of Grand Island. Beverly attended Cushing Consolidated School and was a 1950 graduate of Cushing High School. She was united in marriage to Jack Jurzenski on March 4, 1950 at Osceola. The couple first resided in Grand Island. They moved to a farm near St. Paul and later farmed in the Palmer area. She worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island for a number of years. She also attended Grand Island Beauty School and worked as a beautician out of her home near Palmer. In 1966 the couple moved into St. Paul where she began working for Dr. Richard Hanisch. Mr. Jurzenski died on May 25, 1975 as the result of a drowning accident. She continued her employment with Dr. Hanisch and later as the St. Paul city clerk. She married Joe Pedersen in August 1978 at St. Paul. The couple lived in St. Paul and Colorado. In 1986 she moved to Grand Island. She worked at the Grand Island Veterans Home in the pharmacy and switchboard until her retirement several years ago. Beverly also did bookkeeping for Kuszak Farms of Dannebrog up until the time of her death. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island and was a former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul She was also a member of the ladies auxiliaries of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1347 and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie No. 378, both of Grand Island. Beverly loved to dance, play the piano and organ and was a great storyteller. Her entire family, including her children, grandchildren, parents, sister and brother, were all very important to her. She loved following all of their activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Johnson and Elfie Johnson Svoboda; her step-father, Charles Svoboda,; her husband, Jack Jurzenski; and a grandson, Jason Roux. She had traveled to Littleton to be with her daughter and ailing son-in-law, John Roux, who died on Aug. 25, 2003.
