He was born on September 16, 1936 in Glenmora to the union of Walter Bradford and Gussie Myers Goree. Bill graduated from Glenmora High School in 1954. He worked for Cleco, Elizabeth Paper Mill, Ford Bacon & Davis out of Monroe, and Superintendent for the Town of Glenmora for 18 years. Bill was the owner of Glenmora Cleaners, Bill’s Heating & Cooling, and Custom Golf Carts. In 1986, he worked the Enforcement Division DEQ, went on and worked for the State of Louisiana in pipeline safety and retired in 2002. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. With Bill there was never a dull moment and he was always telling jokes and made everyone laugh. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter B. and Gussie Myers Goree; sister, Melba Jean Goree, brothers, Bobby (Tiny) Goree, James (Bit) Goree, Mack Goree, and grandson, Cody Blue Rudisill. He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley Babb Goree of Glenmora; son, Billy Brian Goree (Shorty) of Glenmora; daughters, Donna Goree and Danita Goree Davis (Johnny) all of Glenmora; 11 grandchildren, Shy, Dusty, B.J., Livia, Tera, Gary, Cody, Valerie, Nick, Mackie, and Allie; 13 great grandchildren, Reuben, Kaylan, Scott, Jackie, Katrina, Remy, Reed, Maci, Chase, Spencer, Mylie, Lydie Belle, and Drake; brother, Walter (Bubba) Goree of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Bettye Perritt of Frisco, Texas and Ruthie Goree of Glenmora; numerous nieces, nephews, his best friend and loving pet, Prissy. Pallbearers to serve will be Mike Goree, Pat Goree, Burl Goree, Jim Perritt, Jeff Perritt, Joel Perritt, Rocky Johnson, and John Carruth. Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Josh Johnson, Gary Sharpe, Cody Sharpe, Tommy Mizell, Pete Strother, Ed Johnson, Dean Kellogg, Keith Townley, Preston Comeaux, Brandon Shockley, and Luckett Shockley. Visitation will begin Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., then Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 8 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Glenmora United Methodist Church, 617 9th Street, Glenmora, Louisiana 71433.
