Funeral services are Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar, NE with Pastor David King officiating. Casket bearers are his grandsons, Andy Maynard, Jason Shuck, Darren Shaw, Gariv Thornberry, Kalen Shuck and Colton Shuck. Burial will be held in the Edgar Cemetery. Bill Shuck was born September 14, 1920 in Clay County; NE on his parent's farm east of Edgar, NE. When Bill was 10, he moved with his family to the farm just south of Edgar where he lived for the next 77 years until he moved into town with his wife, Bobbie in 2007. Bill attended Section and Branstitre country schools and graduated from Edgar High School in 1938. He married Barbara "Bobbie" Mileger on Nov. 11, 1945 and to this union five children were born. Bill was a life-long farmer in Clay and Nuckolls County and truly loved, the land and raising, irrigating and harvesting the crops. Even in his semi-retirement from farming. he continued to help his sons with harvest as long as his health permitted. Throughout his life he enjoyed all manner of sports including baseball football, softball camping & golfing, bowling and card playing. In December of 2008, he broke his hip and for tbe next 9 months he continued to valiantly fight various health issues until he died peacefully at rest with his family by his side. Bill attended the Edgar Christian Church and was a member of tbe Elks Club in Superior, NE. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Robert, Bob and Minnie (Kirkhoff) Shuck of Edgar; brotber Byrle Shuck of San Pedro, CA; sister Lois (Shuck) McLaughlin, and husband John of Denver, CO; parents-in-law. Ralph and Fannie (Jeffs) Mileger of Edgar; brothers-in-law Ralph Mileger, Jr, Chester "Chet" Larson and Robert "Bob" Swanson of Edgar. Survivors include his wife Bobbie Shuck of Edgar, NE; daughter Pam Shuck Maynard of Edgar, NE; sons Tom Shuck and wife Diane of Toronto, Can.; Sam Shuck and wife Sonja of Wood River, NE; Brad Shuck and wife Pam of Edgar, NE; Greg Shuck and wife Rita of Edgar, NE; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Shuck of San Pedro, CA; Bille Larson and Pat Swanson both of Edgar, NE; grandchildren Andy Maynard and his wife Dr, Brandi Mace of Newton, Iowa; Jason, Shuck: of Clearwater FL; SPC Norrisa Shuck currently serving with the Nebraska National Guard 1195th Transportation Company in Baghdad, Iraq; Justine Shuck of Toronto, Ont; Megan (Shuck) Shaw and husband Darren Shaw of Edgar, Riley Shuck of Lincoln, NE; Gariv Thornberry of Edgar.
