Description	:	Billy R. Evans, 86, of Keokuk, died at 11:40 PM Friday, April 16, 2004 at Keokuk Area Hospital. He was born August 4, 1917 at Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Howard and Mildred Clark Evans. He married Margey Burns on April 9, 1941 and she preceded him in death. He married Mary Allison Jenkins on September 3, 1977. She survives. He was a lifelong resident of Keokuk. Evans, 86, of Keokuk, died at 11:40 PM Friday, April 16, 2004 at Keokuk Area Hospital. He was born August 4, 1917 at Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Howard and Mildred Clark Evans. He married Margey Burns on April 9, 1941 and she preceded him in death. He married Mary Allison Jenkins on September 3, 1977. She survives. He was a lifelong resident of Keokuk. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed for 43 years at Union Electric in the powerhouse, retiring in 1980. He was a member of First Christian Church; a lifetime member of Odd Fellows and was Past Grand Master of State of Iowa Odd Fellows, IOOF; Member of Keokuk Lodge #29, A.F. & A.M.; member of Chapter, Council, Commander and Consistory; past member of Elmira Chapter #40, O.E.S. and Malta Shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem; member of American Legion Post #41; and a member of Operating Engineers Union at U.E. Powerhouse. He found great joy and pride in his lodge work. He is survived by his wife, Mary of Keokuk; daughter, Nancy Brown and her husband, Charles, of Montrose, Iowa; son, Robert Evans of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandsons, James and Gary Brown; three great grandchildren, Hannah, Eleni and Naythan; two half brothers, Max Evans and Jack Evans of Keokuk; and his caregiver, Janet Johnson of Hamilton, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Anna Evans; his first wife, Margey; two brothers, Floyd and Raymond Evans; three half brothers, Eugene, Jimmy and Dale Evans; and half sister, Dorothea Fooken. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 21, at First Christian Church with Rev. Matt Hunt officiating. An Odd Fellows memorial service was also given at this time. Burial with full Military Rites was in Keokuk National Cemetery. A public Masonic Memorial service was held at DeJong's Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Common Grounds % of First Christian Church.
