Read More	Bill Daniels Keith & Keith Funeral Home YAKIMA - Bill was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on June 20, 1941 to William and Faye Daniels. The family moved to Yakima, Washington in 1943. Bill lived and worked in Yakima all his life except for a few short work assignments in the Kittitas area and 2 years working for Boeing in Seattle in the early 1960's. Bill went to rest at that Big Fishin' Hole in the Sky on December 3, 2007. Bill attended several different grade schools in the Valley and graduated from West Valley High School in 1959, where he excelled in scholastics, sports, and student leadership. Bill held several student body offices during his high school years, was a candidate to Boys State, earned recognition on the All-Valley Football team, and was an Honor Society member and finished academically in the top ten students of his class. Following high school, Bill attended Yakima Valley College for two years where he earned his Associates Degree. Bill learned his work ethic at a young age, working through the upper and lower Yakima Valleys in the orchards while attending school. By his own account, he picked every kind of fruit that was grown in the Valley as well as hops, raspberries and grapes, all by hand. He went with the family to Oregon and picked beans and strawberries. Following school Bill worked for 2 years at Blue Ribbon Growers driving a lift truck and 2 years working at Boeing in Seattle. Bill's roots were always in Yakima and he left the big city life and returned to Yakima to put down his permanent roots. He started his career with the Washington State Department of Transportation in 1964 as a surveyor and construction inspector on I-90 and I-82 in Kittitas and Yakima Counties. After several successful years at this work, Bill transferred to the Maintenance branch where he quickly promoted from maintenance assistant to Maintenance Superintendent of the Yakima area shop where he finished his career, retiring after 29 1/2 years of service. During Bill's career he earned several awards for his work and was Past-President of the WA State Assoc. of Highway Superintendents. Bill was active with the State Highway District 5 Credit Union for many years and was Chairman of the Board of Directors for over 20 years. Over his lifetime Bill enjoyed many activities. He enjoyed fishing all of his life and became and avid fly fisherman and fly tier. He said some of his most enjoyable memories as a boy were fishing the local creeks with his Grandpa and family excursions into the mountains. Before being limited by his health and arthritis, he enjoyed hunting, camping, jeeping, hiking, golf, bowling, archery and country western dancing. Bill had other gentler interests that included gardening, woodworking, pine needle basketry, gourd crafts, and cross-stitchery. Bill made friends wherever he went, in all his endeavors, and was devoted to and loved by his family and friends. He was preceded in passing by his father William (Bill), is survived by his mother Faye of Yakima, brother Jerry and wife Marilyn Daniels of Spokane, children Mike and Tracey Daniels of Yakima, Mitch Daniels of Yakima, niece Andrea and husband Duane Phipps of Yakima, nephew Scott Daniels of Yakima, 4 grandchildren - Brooke, Kylie, and Jakob Daniels of Yakima and Samantha Daniels of Parksville, Iowa, many cousins, and a vast number of good friends. Funeral services will be conducted Friday December 7, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Chapel, located at 3001 Terrace Heights Drive. Concluding services and burial will follow in the Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
