Description	:	Blanche D. Grunhovd, age 82, of Lake Mills, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, February 27, 2017, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor Joel Guttormson officiating. Burial will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Blanche Delores Grunhovd was born August 11, 1934 in Forest City, IA, the daughter of John and Maggie (Anderson) McClain. She was the youngest of thirteen children. Blanche was united in marriage with Kermit Ellsworth Grunhovd in 1962 at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, IA. Together, they lived on the Grunhovd homestead where they farmed and raised their two children. Blanche also worked at the Lake Mills Care Center as a Nurses Aid for several years. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where she was active in church circles. She was also a long time member of American Legion Auxiliary. Blanche is survived by her two children, Laurie (Roger) Downing of Lake Mills, IA; and Kyle (friend, Julie Schutz) Grunhovd of Emmons, MN; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kermit in 2015; her siblings, Eva Kluver, Beulah Brue, Margaret Johnson, Ethel Waage, Velma Halverson, Velva Bang, William McClain, Johnnie McClain, Austin McClain, George McClain, Andrew McClain and Wilma Harang.
