Description	:	Kermit E. Grunhovd, 90 of Lake Mills, IA died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Lake Mills Care Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor Peter Soli officiating. Burial will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills. Kermit Ellsworth Grunhovd was born on October 1, 1924, in Winnebago County, the son of Norris and Luella (Ausen) Grunhovd. He attended country school and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1942. Kermit was united in marriage with Blanche McClain at Salem Lutheran Church in 1962. The couple made their home and raised two children on the Grunhovd homestead where Kermit farmed. He enjoyed bowling, taking fishing trips to Canada, spending time with his family, and his daily trips into town to visit and have coffee. He will be remembered as a long-time custodian at the Lake Mills Community School, retiring at the age of 62. Kermit is survived by his wife, Blanche Grunhovd of Lake Mills; daughter Laurie (Roger) Downing of Lake Mills; son Kyle Grunhovd of Emmons, MN; a sister-in-law Anita Grunhuvd of Lake Mills; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gilbert Grunhuvd and Laurel Grunhovd; and a sister AnnMae Johnson.
