Description	:	Daughter of Henry Y. and Cora (Leach) Vinal. Married Jesse A. Holmes in Carver on December 14, 1907. Obituary Blanche E. (Vinal) Holmes, 98, formerly of Holmes St., West Carver, died late Tuesday night, Dec. 17, in Suburban Manor Convalescent Home in Acton. She was the wife of the late selectman and box mill owner, Jesse A. Holmes, who died in 1951. Mrs. Holmes came to Carver with her parents when her father, the late Rev. Henry Y. Holmes in Carver on December 14, 1907. Obituary Blanche E. (Vinal) Holmes, 98, formerly of Holmes St., West Carver, died late Tuesday night, Dec. 17, in Suburban Manor Convalescent Home in Acton. She was the wife of the late selectman and box mill owner, Jesse A. Holmes, who died in 1951. Mrs. Holmes came to Carver with her parents when her father, the late Rev. Henry Y. Vinal, was appointed pastor of the Carver First Baptist Church. Her mother was the late Cora A. (Leach) Vinal. Mrs. Holmes attended the Carver schools as a young girl and then went on to graduate from normal school. She was a former teacher and then principal in the Carver school system, retiring in 1938. She was a member of the Carver First Baptist Church and the Sons of Union Veterans Auxiliary. She was born in Camden, Maine, on Jan. 20, 1887. Mrs. Holmes had lived 11 years in the Evanswood Baptist Retirement Home in Kingston until she entered the nursing home. She leaves a son, Donald Holmes of Moultonboro, New Hampshire; and a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Laura) Donner of Andover; 12 grandchildren, 23 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was also the mother of Howard Holmes, who died at an early age and Norman V. Holmes, of British Columbia, who died several years ago. The Rev. Robert H. Merritt will conduct the funeral service at 1 p.m., Saturday, in the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Holmes family lot in Central Cemetery.
