Description	:	Platte, South Dakota, December 1954 - Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Blanche Roberts, long time Platte resident who died in a Mitchell hospital Sunday. Rev. Robert Thaden officiated at the services and Mrs. Myron Cole sang, accompanied by Mrs. Ray Rassmussen, organist. Burial was in the New Platte Cemetery with Elmer Gardner, Joe Larson, Frank DeLire, Cecil Melcher, Dave Summerville and Earl Eastman serving as pallbearers. Read More	Platte, South Dakota, December 1954 - Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Blanche Roberts, long time Platte resident who died in a Mitchell hospital Sunday. Rev. Robert Thaden officiated at the services and Mrs. Myron Cole sang, accompanied by Mrs. Ray Rassmussen, organist. Burial was in the New Platte Cemetery with Elmer Gardner, Joe Larson, Frank DeLire, Cecil Melcher, Dave Summerville and Earl Eastman serving as pallbearers. Blanche Fetter was born at Ireton, Ia., March 11, 1877, where she grew to womanhood, and there, on July 18, 1893, she united in marriage to Dr. Edward Clyde Day. After a brief stay in Sioux City, Ia., they moved to Sioux Falls [SD] and in the fall of 1903 moved to Platte where she resided until her death. To this union were born two children, Lawrence and Marjorie. [A third child died in infancy.] Dr. Day passed away March 8, 1914; her son Lawrence, in Oct. 1916; and her daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Cool, on October 31, 1918. She was married to Orville L. Roberts of Platte at Plankinton in Nov. 1918. A short time after the death of their mother [Anna E. Schmidt Roberts] in 1919, Mr. and Mrs. Roberts took into their home Orville, Russell and Arlene Roberts, children of [Orville Roberts's brother] Harry Roberts, and cared for them until they grew up. Mr. Roberts passed away Sept. 12, 1945. Mrs. Roberts passing is mourned by her family and a host of friends. Among the out of town people attending the funeral of Mrs. Blanche Roberts Tuesday were Guy Bennett and daughter and Gerald Long of Geddes, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hansen and Miss Leota Cook of Sioux Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Neil Slaughter and daughter, Gregory.
