Description	:	Blanche Spurgeon, 65, of Chelan died at the home of her daughter in California on February 4 after a brief illness. Born in Ashland, Kentucky, on February 20, 1888, she came to North Central Washington in the early 1900s, first settling in Waterville. She came to the Chelan area in 1906. Mr. Spurgeon preceded his wife in death in 1926. Surviving are five sons, Fred of Carlton, Claude and John, both of Chelan, Earl of Chehalis and Dennis of Holden; three daughters, Garnett Thomas of Chico, California, Violet Baumback of Tracy, California, and Mary Kamphaus of Kent; five sisters, Mrs.... Mr. Spurgeon preceded his wife in death in 1926. Surviving are five sons, Fred of Carlton, Claude and John, both of Chelan, Earl of Chehalis and Dennis of Holden; three daughters, Garnett Thomas of Chico, California, Violet Baumback of Tracy, California, and Mary Kamphaus of Kent; five sisters, Mrs. Edith Pitts, Mrs. Rosy Engrum, Mrs. Nan Painter, Mrs. Meady Henderson and Mrs. Plumma Knowles, all of Chelan; one brother, Curtis Fowler of Chelan and 13 grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday afternoon, two o'clock, at the Chelan Methodist Church with the Rev. Ralph Helseth officiating. Mrs. Dorothy Reed at the organ accompanied Mrs. Evelyn Lindemuth as she sang, "In The Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Casket bearers were Walt Russell, Leland Kamphaus, Clay Phelps, Cecil Housden, Woody Doty and Larry Francis. Honorary casket bearers were Emmett Blair, Lloyd Morton, Elmer Garton and Burke Spake. Concluding services and interment followed in the Fraternal Cemetery.
