Description	:	DEATH OF AN AGED PIONEER John G. Fowler, 83, who with his wfie have made their home in this city with their daughter, Mrs. R. Humbert, died last Monday, February 20. He had been sick for about a year, but the immediate case of death was heart trouble and an attack of the flu. Deceased was born in Green County, Pennsylvania in 1839 and with his family moved when he was two years old to Virginia and later to Kentucky. Fowler, 83, who with his wfie have made their home in this city with their daughter, Mrs. R. Humbert, died last Monday, February 20. He had been sick for about a year, but the immediate case of death was heart trouble and an attack of the flu. Deceased was born in Green County, Pennsylvania in 1839 and with his family moved when he was two years old to Virginia and later to Kentucky. He and his family came to Douglas county in 1903 and settled on a ranch near Withrow where he resided until he came to Waterville two years ago. He was the father of 19 children, seven by his first wife and 12 by his widow, who survives. The following children were present at the funeral: Mrs. R. Humbert, Waterville O. D. Fowler, Withrow Mrs. Nanna Painter, Mansfield Mrs. Rosa Bliss, Mrs. Frank Spurgeon and Mrs. Maude Whitehall all of Lakeside The funeral was held from the Masonic hall, Rev. Boppell preaching the sermon, followed by the lodge ceremony. The burial was to have taken place in the Fletcher cemetery, but owing to road conditions it is necessary to hold the body at the Thomas undertaking parlors until they are open.
