SWANSON Blanche Myrtle Swanson, the daughter of Theodor and Mary (Spear) Hansen, was born in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska on April 21, 1910, and died in Aurora, Nebraska, on October 9, 2000, at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 18 days. She grew up on a farm three miles outside of Beaver Crossing. She graduated from Beaver Crossing High School. Blanche taught in the rural school system, and then worked for Gale Photography Studio in York and Aurora. On October 9, 1932, she was united in marriage to Kermit Swanson at Taylor, Nebraska. They made their home in Aurora. Two sons and one daughter were born to this union. Blanche was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. She was very active in 4-H, where she was a leader for many years. Blanche was a State Ornithologist; a master angler and she took pride in her yard. She raised many flowers, that she shared with family, friends and neighbors. Blanche had a special love of birds and poetry as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers and three sisters, and one granddaughter, Jean Swanson. Those who wish to cherish her memory are her two sons, Jack Swanson and his wife Myrna of Seward and James Swanson and his wife Blanche of Kearney; daughter, Janet Swanson of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren, Jacqueline Lynn of Omaha, Julie DenHerder of Bellevue, Jane Hardin of Libertyville, Illinois, James D. Swanson of Grand Island, Kristy McDowell of Houston, Texas and Patrick Swanson of Omaha; and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie Campbell of Newberg, Oregon.
