He was born Jan. 15, 1937, to William A. and Bertha June Cline Stone in Torrington, Wyo. He attended Pleasant View School in North Platte. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict in Stuttgart, Germany. His duty while stationed in Germany was driving Gen. George Patton to his appointments. He was honorably discharged in 1957. ... Read More	Bobby Gene ''Bob'' Stone Bobby Gene “Bob” Stone, 67, of North Platte died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at his home of a massive heart attack. He was born Jan. 15, 1937, to William A. and Bertha June Cline Stone in Torrington, Wyo. He attended Pleasant View School in North Platte. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict in Stuttgart, Germany. His duty while stationed in Germany was driving Gen. George Patton to his appointments. He was honorably discharged in 1957. He married Janet Weekly in 1958, and they had three children. On March 16, 1963, he married Sonja Yvonne Lunkwitz at the First Christian Church in North Platte. They would have celebrated 42 years together this year. They had two daughters. Bob worked at Central Nebraska Packing until he was 18, when he joined the U. S. Army. After his discharge he returned to North Platte, where he worked for James E. Simon Construction and later at Armor and Co. In 1964 he went into partnership with his father-in-law Joney W. Lunkwitz as Lunkwitz and Son Sanitation Service. After Joney''s death, Bob and his wife Sonja bought out Joney''s share and began Bob Stone Sanitation, retiring in March 1999. The couple also owned and operated TB&S Sweeping and Paradise Acres Exotic Birds and Animals. They were pioneers in the ostrich business, being the first people in Nebraska to raise ostrich. He and his wife played Santa and Mrs. Claus with their real-life reindeer. Their daughter Tammy and three grandchildren were their elves. They also had a petting zoo complete with camel rides at local fairs. Bob was also the innkeeper with his camel and other animals in the Christmas and Easter Pageants at Calvary Assembly Church in North Platte. He enjoyed boxing in the Golden Gloves in his younger years. Bob was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and son. All who knew him loved him, and if you weren''t smiling, he could make you smile. Survivors include his wife of North Platte; daughters Tammy (Dale) Lake of North Platte and Laurie (Frank) Griffin of Bethany, Okla.; son Mark (Koleen) Stone of Brule; his mother Bertha Stone of North Platte; his four grandchildren, who were his most valued treasures on earth; his little dog “Stubby:” sisters Donna (Ron) Alexander of North Platte and Ruth (Raymond) Sharp of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; brothers William E. (Judy) Stone of North Platte and Arthur LeRoy (Pat) stone of Berthoud, Colo.; sisters-in-law Dorothy (Don) Schmidt of North Platte and Carolyn Mueller of Sutherland; brothers-in-law Gene (Lois) Lunkwitz of Paxton and Floyd (Pauline) Lunkwitz of Elko, Nev.; special friends Erceil (Sarah) Robinson of Sapulpa, Okla., and Jerry Dike of Hope, Kan.; and bunches of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; daughters Ranee Lynn and Shelly Marie; sister Beverly June Bayne; mother- and father-in-law Mildred E. and Joney W. Lunkwitz; brother-in-law Lawrence Mueller; and nephews Timothy Stone, Rodney Schmidt and Dennis Lee Lunkwitz. Services were Jan. 11 at Adams & Swanson Chapel with Pastor Bob Payne of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial was at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with military honors graveside. A memorial has been established to Calvary Baptist Church. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
