Aksamit was born January 1, 1874, at Crete, Nebr. He passed away at the Broadstone (sic) Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebr., Thursday morning, Sept. 14th, 1944, at the age of 70 years, 8 month and 13 days. He resided at Crete until 1898 when ho took up residence on a farm five miles south of Deweese. In 1899 he wa (sic) married to Bessie Koci of Crete. To this union, four children were born: Mary, Longin, Lillie and William. In 1908 the family moved to a farm three miles south of Deweese, at which place he resided until his death. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge and served for years as the treasurer of this organization. He was active in civic and community affairs and served for some years as treasurer of the School District and the Deweese Farmers Union Elevator Company, and as secretary of the Pleasant Hill Local No. 131. Mr. Aksamit was loved and respected by all who knew him for his honesty, integrity, his willingness to help whom he could Many profited by his sound advice given when it was sought. Although afflicted with a chronic heart ailment, he was able to lead an active life until about two weeks ago, when complications developed which caused his death. Two members of his family preceded him in death, his older daughter, Mary, passing away in 1917 and his wife in 1940. He is survived by his two sons: Longin and William of Deweese; his daughter, Mrs. Perry Kothe of Calpet, Wyoming; twelve grand-children; two brothers; Henry of Helena, Montana, and Adolph of Crete, Nebr.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Svoboda of Crete, Nebraska; and many friends and neighbors. He will be missed from the home circle and from the community life. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Deweese Christian Church conducted by Rev. F. L, Harris of Fairfield. A quartet, composed of Mrs. Lewis M. Shaw, Mrs. Cecil Keenly, Roy Shaw and Jay Hubbell, sang "We Are Going Down the Valley," "It Is Well With My Soul: and Rock of Ages." The instrumental music was furnished by Mrs. A. E. Uldrich, Henry Herbek, Frank Vap, Julius Mazour, Frank Kalvoda and Jim Drudik. Interment was made in the Fairfield cemetery (sic).
