His wife had gone to the home of her parents at Vining with the couple’s nineteen-month-old son. The Kos family lived in a house on the Emil Herink farm about two miles from the Podhajsky home. Kos telephoned Mrs. Podhajsky and told her to have Mr. Podhajsky come to the Kos home at once. When Mr. Podhajsky reached the house and found the body of his employee, the latter was still breathing, but died almost immediately. Dr. A. J. Wentzien, of Tama, county coroner, announced the death that it was a case of suicide. The young man left a note in which he indicated his intention to kill himself. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 6 o’clock at the Kos home and at 10 o’clock at the Immaculate Conception church in Clutier, with the Rev. Father Thomas Vopatek officiating. The church was crowded to capacity for the service. Burial was in Holy Trinity cemetery, southwest of Clutier. Pallbearers were Frank Chizek, William Podhajsky, Charles Kacer, William Dvorak, Edward Adamek and James Podhajsky. The decedent was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kos Sr., near Clutier, and was a lifetime resident of north Tama county. He was born January 10, 1914, and was married November 17, 1936, to Miss Elsie Buresh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Buresh, of Vining, at the church in Clutier. Both before and after his marriage he was employed on farms in the vicinity of Traer and was known as an unusually good worker. He had been employed by Will Podhajsky for four years before his marriage. During the last two years he fanned in partnership with Fred Kubik on the Kubik farm. They dissolved partnership with a closing-out sale last winter. The Kos family moved to the house on the Herink farm, and Kos resumed work for Mr. Podhajsky March 1. He was a young man of ordinarily cheerful disposition and had a wide circle of friends. Besides his widow and young son, the decedent is survived by his parents, also by three brothers, Joseph, George, and Leonard Kos, and one sister, Mrs. Emil Dvorak.
