Her death was the result of a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Bonnie was born on July 13, 1924 on a farm near Coyville, Kansas, to Benjamin and Christel (Busby) Ware. She grew up on a farm in Salt Springs Township in Greenwood County near Fall River. On Sept. 9, 1944 she was united in marriage to the Reverend Andrew R. Wylie, an evangelist, pastor and church planter in the Pilgrim Holiness (now Wesleyan) Church. In 1948 they purchased their home on East Central St. in Humboldt, KS, which was her residence until her death. With only an eighth-grade education in a one-room schoolhouse to her credit, she resurrected her educational pursuits in her early 40's and obtained a high-school equivalency diploma and then a Bachelors in Elementary Education from Kansas State Teachers College (now Emporia State University). She taught for 17 years in the ANW Special Education Cooperative, teaching various classes for the mentally and physically handicapped. After her retirement from teaching, she often was a caregiver to the aged or handicapped and volunteered at the Humboldt Historical Museum but always was most active in her church. For the last several years she was a member of the Iola Nazarene Church. Her life was defined by service to others and her Savior. She was partner in ministry with her husband, and a steadfast example of Christian faith as she raised her children. She maintained an active influence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren until her very last day. Her loving wisdom and gentle but firm spirit will not be forgotten. Bonnie is survived by two sons, David and Ralda Wylie of Topeka, KS, and Calvin and Tammy Wylie of Bowie, MD; one daughter, Elaine Wylie of Dearing, KS; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew; two brothers, Earl and Wayne; and one sister, Nellie. She also had a sister and brother, Ruby Fae and Leonard Glenn, who died in childhood. Funeral will be Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the First Nazarene Church in Iola, KS. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas. Memorials in her name may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene or the National Federation for the Blind and may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel is in charge of arrangements. *****************************
