Bonnie Dell Galey, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Galey, was born near South Ottumwa, and by her sudden, unexpected death on Thursday, May 7, has made the rift in the home circle. A fond father and mother, three sisters, Dessie, Anna and Flora, one brother, Grover, and a cousin, John Galey, who has been one of the family since early boyhood, are left lonely and heartsore by the passing of the youngest, gayest spirit of the home. Bonnie attended both the Irving and Agassiz schools, graduating from eighth grade and entering high school. During the past winter she attended night school, spending much time at home, owing to the very delicate health of her mother. Bonnie was an unusually buoyant nature, and her gay wit has entertained many friends at her ever hospitable home. While lively and cheery she was also unusually sympathetic and unselfish with those whom she loved. She left her home last Wednesday for St. Joseph's hospital, expecting soon to be home again, after a simple operation, freed of a troublesome goiter. But although her courage and high spirits never failed, even in the operating room, the little heart did, and the utmost attempts of the attending physicians failed to lure back the spirit to its earthly home. The South Ottumwa Baptist church was filled Sunday, May 10, when Rev. Jonathan Lee conducted the services in the presence of the relatives and many sorrowing friends. In her brief life she had shed sunshine and fragrance like a little lily of the valley, which blooms in the springtime and is gone almost before its dainty sweetness is appreciated, but yet leaves a haunting memory of its dainty purity. She was laid to rest in the Shaul cemetery beneath many beautiful floral tributes which served but to show slightly the loving esteem in which she was held. The secret of her courage was a knowledge that she "only knew she could not drift beyond his love and care."-Contributed.
