She was born Feb. 8, 1931 in Bassett, Kansas to Charles E. and Ethel Turley (Bardwell) Thornbrugh. She was graduated from Iola High School. She was married to Jimmie Higginbotham on Nov. 21, 1952. He survives at their home. They lived in Iola until 1953, when they moved to Paola, KS for three years, before returning to Iola. Read More	*********************************** The Iola (KS) Register - April 10, 2006 Bonnie Jean Higginbotham, 75, formerly of Iola, Kansas, died Sunday, April 9, at her home in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was born Feb. 8, 1931 in Bassett, Kansas to Charles E. and Ethel Turley (Bardwell) Thornbrugh. She was graduated from Iola High School. She was married to Jimmie Higginbotham on Nov. 21, 1952. He survives at their home. They lived in Iola until 1953, when they moved to Paola, KS for three years, before returning to Iola. She worked at Fairmont, Kress Drug Store, Peter Pan, Steffans, and Otasco. Over the next several years they lived in Plainfield, IL, Anderson, IN, Decatur, IL, and Mason City, IA, before settling in Fort Scott. She continued to work various jobs at each location. She was baptized at First Christian Church in Iola and remained a member of the church. She belonged to a neighborhood ladies coffee group and Carlyle Country Club. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO. She enjoyed her family, crocheting, gardening, birdwatching, camping, cooking, and watching old movies. Other survivors are son Ronnie and wife Debbie, of Iola, KS; daughter Rhonda Smith and husband Rodney, of Parsons, KS; four grandchildren, Melisa and John Higginbotham and Cindy and Nick Smith; a great-grandchild, Dylan Ray Charles; and many friends and relatives. Service is Wednesday at First Christian Church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas. The Rev. Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. Memorials may be left to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels are in charge of arrangements. **************************************
