DeWitt was born on February 14, 1928, in Nunda, South Dakota, the daughter of Fred Q. and Bessie L. (Patterson) Gerrits. She died on Tuesday, October 18, 1994, at the Brookings Hospital at the age of 66 years. Bonnie spent her early years in Nunda, and received her education in Rutland, South Dakota, and graduated from Rutland High School in 1945. She then attended college at Madison, SD, and taught grade school in Nunda. ... Read More	BROOKINGS, SD: Bonnie DeWitt, wife of Gerald DeWitt, died on October 18, 1994. Bonnie L. DeWitt was born on February 14, 1928, in Nunda, South Dakota, the daughter of Fred Q. and Bessie L. (Patterson) Gerrits. She died on Tuesday, October 18, 1994, at the Brookings Hospital at the age of 66 years. Bonnie spent her early years in Nunda, and received her education in Rutland, South Dakota, and graduated from Rutland High School in 1945. She then attended college at Madison, SD, and taught grade school in Nunda. She ws united in marriage to Gerald DeWitt on March 25, 1948, in Madison. Bonnie was employed at the Brookings Telephone Co. and later Interstate Telecommunications Cooperative, Inc. as cashier and bookkeeper for nearly 30 years until her retirement on March 1, 1990. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxillary. She always enjoyed the outdoors, sports, walking, bicycling and camping. She especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports. Bonnie is survived by her husband Gerald of Brookings; two sons, Dan DeWitt and Tim DeWitt, and his wife, Debbie, all of Brookings; eight grandchildren, Patrick, Bill, Matthew, Shannon, Brandon, Derrick, Randy, and Shondra; and two brothers, Russell and Elwood Gerrits, both of California. She ws preceded in death by her parents and oe brother, James Gerrits. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 21, 1994 at the First United Methodist Church. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
