Description	:	Bonnie Steffen, 80, of Scotia died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul. Bonnie was born on Feb. 12, 1930, in Scotia to Lynn and Della (Gebauer) Vance. Bonnie married Loren Steffen on May 9, 1948, in Scotia. He died on Aug. 22, 2004. Read More	Bonnie Steffen, 80, of Scotia died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul. Bonnie was born on Feb. 12, 1930, in Scotia to Lynn and Della (Gebauer) Vance. Bonnie married Loren Steffen on May 9, 1948, in Scotia. He died on Aug. 22, 2004. Survivors are: daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Hiett of Scotia and Sue Scholz of Grand Island; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Ron Luth of Columbus; sister-in-law, Joyce Steffen of Hastings; brother-in-law, Glen Hadenfeldt of Grand Island; grandchildren, Kristen Hiett of Scotia, Kevin and wife, Selena, Hiett of Lincoln and Aaron and wife, Stacy, Scholz of St. Libory; and three great-grandchildren. Bonnie attended District 30 School east of Scotia. She was a member of the class of 1947 at Scotia High School. She worked as a waitress at the Clark Hotel and the Scotia Cafe. The couple lived in Scotia, where Bonnie became very active in the community. She worked at Anthony's Market from 1964 to 1970 and also was a homemaker. Bonnie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years, Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid and the Tuesday Morning Bible Study. She also was a member of the Birthday Girls Club, the Lamartine Pinochle Club and the Rueben Beck American Legion Auxiliary Unit 150 of Scotia, serving as secretary for 35 years. Bonnie enjoyed volunteering for the Red Cross at bloodmobiles, playing cards and reading. She had her "phone list" that contained friends' names and numbers she used to call and talk to. She loved flowers and she enjoyed raising roses and African violets. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Babs Hadenfeldt.
