A viewing will be held at the Creel Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interment and graveside service will be at the Utica Cemetery on Friday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. Dinner will follow at the Utica Community Hall. Jean was born to Charles and Bess Hamilton Hill at home in Manhattan, Kan., on Aug. 28, 1923. She graduated from high school in Oakley, Kan., in 1941 and attended Kansas State in Manhattan before teaching one year near Manhattan. Jean moved to Montana and taught for two years. She met Norman Walker in Utica and married him on Oct. 26, 1946. Three daughters were born while the family lived in Utica: Laurel, Leslie, and Becky. Janet was born during their years in East Glacier Park, where they moved in 1953. The family returned to central Montana in 1959, living in Benchland. In the fall of 1969, Jean became the secretary at Hobson School, a job she loved for 16 years. She and Norman moved to Lewistown in 1997, where Jean was active in the Methodist Church, attended Red Hat events, and served on the board of the Community Cupboard. She remained in her home after Norman passed away and moved to Highgate Assisted Living in Billings in the fall of 2011, where she and her cat made many good friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Bob and Joe, daughter Leslie, and husband Norman. She is survived by daughters Laurel Walker, Rudyard, Becky and John Christensen, Billings, and Janet and Frank Mann, Billings; and grandchildren: Seisin and Craig Eyer, Teslyn and Collin, Missoula, Jace and Nicole Christensen, Billings, Christopher and Kimberly Mann and Ryleigh, Gering, Neb., and Dr. Kelsey Mann, Billings. Also surviving are her sister Anne and Ken Turner of Moore; sisters-in-law Mabel Walker of Great Falls and Mary Nan Hill of Hobson; and many other family members and friends. Memorials are suggested to Central Montana Community Cupboard, P.O. Box 194, Lewistown, MT 59457, or to Camp Mak-a-Dream, P.O. Box 1450, Missoula, MT 59806. Undesignated memorials will be used for scholarships. Service arrangements are under the care of Creel Funeral Home. Condolences for the family can be expressed at www.creelfuneralhome.com
