She married Christian H. Boysen on May 28, 1943, in Clinton. She immigrated to the United States from Norway in 1929. She was a 1939 graduate of Huxley High School. She also attended Austin Junior College, Chicago. During World War II, she was a receptionist with Climax. She later was the office manager at Gateway Junior High School for 17 years before retiring in 1978. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church for more than 60 years where she taught Sunday school. She was active with the Ruth Circle, Zion Lutheran married couples, sauerkraut supper and Clinton Public Schools Secretary Association. She was a member of Sons of Norway Lodge, Women of the Moose and Yuleville. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sonja Mennenga and Barbara Galloway, both of Des Moines; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Harry Boardsen of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be made to the Zion Lutheran Church women. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
