Borgie was born to Ole and Ane Rolseth and grew up in Libby the middle child in a family of seven. She was proud of the Rolseth name and the fact that her parents were officially recognized by Libby city officials and celebrated as pillars of the community. Read More	Borghild (nee Rolseth) MacDonald, 90 Borghild (Rolseth) MacDonald passed away Sept. 25, 2011, at the age of 90, in the town of her birth and the place she so loved, Libby. Borgie was born to Ole and Ane Rolseth and grew up in Libby the middle child in a family of seven. She was proud of the Rolseth name and the fact that her parents were officially recognized by Libby city officials and celebrated as pillars of the community. She was well-liked and noted for her inventive imagination among friends. Her 12 years in Libby schools culminated in her being selected ‘yell leader' for the LHS Terriers in 1939 when there was one cheer leader. Borgie then enrolled in Eastern Normal School in Billings and earned a teaching degree. Her first year teaching was spent at the small Prairie View School in the Flathead Valley. The outbreak of the Second World War sent Borgie in a different direction. She took a job as program director at the Air Force Service Club at Geiger Field in Spokane. She was instrumental in running that club and in the organization and overseeing of start ups for several more USO clubs in the western region of the U.S., often flying to and from these locations in the belly of B-17s. At war's end she returned to Libby and worked as a secretary at J. Neils Lumber Co. Her marriage took her to Washington and California in the late 1950s and '60s and produced five children. She returned to her beloved Libby in the early 1970s where her three sons graduated with honors from LHS. Borgie was an avid reader and her interest in education led her to the position of Lincoln County Deputy Superintendent of Schools, and she retired from that position in 1993 after 20 years. She was an active and prideful member in the community of Libby. She supported the sports programs in which her sons participated. She was a longtime member of Friends of the Library and Women's Club, and was active in Nordicfest, as she was fiercely proud of her Norwegian heritage. Borgie was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary; brothers, Odin and Albert Rolseth; and sister, Hilda McCallum. She was survived by three sons; a daughter; three sisters; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. At her request there will be a celebration of life and small ceremony "in the spring, when the weather is nice and hopes are high." The family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations be made in Borghild's name to "Friends of the Library", c/o 220 W 6th Street in Libby, Mont., 59923.
