Born at Conquerall Bank 62 years ago, he was a son of Mrs. Rafuse and the late J. Norman Rafuse, founder of the shipbuilding firm of J.N. Rafuse and Sons. He received his early education at Conquerall Bank and later took a Commercial Course at Mount Allison University from which college he was graduated. He spent several years in New York City and returned to his native home during the First Great War to engage with his brothers, N.W. Rafuse and S.S. Rafuse, of this town, in building shipds at the old stand at Conquerall Bank for the Canadian and French governments. At the time of his death, Mr. Rafuse held a position in the shipping department of the T. Eaton Company, Ltd. Halifax. Surviving, besides his wife, formerly Amy Paint of Halifax, Lachine, Quebec, is a son, Mander of Montreal, who arrived in Halifax by plane shortly before his father's death and who accompanied the remains to Bridgewater for burial; also his mother, Mrs. J.N. Rafuse, Bridgewater; four sisters, Mrs. J.A. Weingart, Shelburne; Mrs. E.C. Hebb, Lake Placid, N.Y.; Mrs. E.L. Lawson, Moncton; and Miss Gertrude Rafuse, Bridgewater; and two brothers, Norman W. and Stanley S. Rafuse, Bridgewater. The funeral was held from the home of his brother, Norman, at 2:30 yesterday afternoon, thence to Brookside Cemetery where burial took place. Rev. Sidney Bennett, pastor of Grace United Church, officiated. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
