Description	:	On Sunday, August 12th at 12:30 p.m. a two-car accident took the lives of Brenda, 14, and Tina, one and a half, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Norland E. Melvin of Angus. The Melvin car, driven by Christine, 20, was east bound and a car driven by Robert Brown of Nelson was south bound when they hit broadside at an intersection on the Angus road 5 miles north and 3 miles east of Nelson. Read More	On Sunday, August 12th at 12:30 p.m. a two-car accident took the lives of Brenda, 14, and Tina, one and a half, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Norland E. Melvin of Angus. The Melvin car, driven by Christine, 20, was east bound and a car driven by Robert Brown of Nelson was south bound when they hit broadside at an intersection on the Angus road 5 miles north and 3 miles east of Nelson. Passengers in the Brown car were cousins of Brown, Craig and David Scoville of Lincoln. Other passengers in the Melvin car besides the deceased were Mrs. Melvin, Carol and Barry. Both families were on their way home from church in Nelson and Angus. Besides the Nelson Rescue Unit there were three other units and Klawitter Funeral Home on the scene of the accident. Services are pending for the Melvin children. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, August 16, 1973 Funeral services for Brenda Melvin were held Thursday, August 16, 1973, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Nelson. Pastors Richard Ludden and Herbert A. Steen officiated. Brenda Sue Melvin, one of five children of Norland E. Melvin and Carol I. Hall Melvin, was born on May 24, 1959, at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebr. Brenda's childhood was spent on their family farm near Angus, Nebr. She graduated last fall from the Angus Rural School and would have been a freshman at Nelson High this year. She was baptized by immersion by Pastor Richard Ludden at the Nelson United Methodist Church on May 6, 1973. She joined the church on May 20, 1973. Brenda is survived by her mother and father, her sister, Christine, two brothers, Steven and Barry, her grandparents, Warren and Pearl Hall of Nelson and Homer and Norma Melvin of Edgar, other relatives and many friends. On August 12, 1973, Brenda and her baby sister, Tina Marie, were called home to be with their God. She was 14 years, 2 months and 20 days old. She will be placed to rest beside her baby sister in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter Funeral Home was in charge. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, August 23, 1973
