She had suffered much in the last year from illness and the infirmities of age, but at the last she fell asleep as quietly and peacefully as a child. Read More	Obituary: MANLEY, NEB Mrs Michael Bourke died at home in Manley, Saturday October 30, at the advanced age of 85 years. She had suffered much in the last year from illness and the infirmities of age, but at the last she fell asleep as quietly and peacefully as a child. With her at the time of her death were three daughters, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. O'Leary, and Miss Francis Bourke (Error here, it would have to be Minnie/Mary Bourke), and her son, Dan. With her also was Father Higgins, whose faithful ministrations during his years in Manley did so much for the deceased through weeks and months when she was confined to her bed, and yet longed for the consolations of her religion. The funeral took place Tuesday, November 2, on the beautiful Feast of All Souls. Requiem High Mass was sung by the pastor, assisted by the church choir. Mrs. Bourke was buried in College Hill Cemetery beside wer husband, who had been laid to rest almost fifteeen years before. The pallbearers, all grandsons, were Michael and James O'Leary, Bryan and Thomas Smith, and Daniel and Thomas Tighe. Among those attending the funeral were William and Terence Collins, Chicago; Mrs Michael Casey, Kennebec, SD, aged sister of the deceased; Mrs. Josias Tighe, Pukwana, SD (a niece, Ellen Casey Tighe, daughter of Mary Burke Casey and Michael Casey) and John Tighe and daughter, Agnes, of Omaha. Mrs. Bourke was born at Herbertstown, County Limerick, Ireland February 14, 1836. She came to Canada with her parents at the age of ??. Here she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Michael Bourke. The family moved to Iowa in 1865 and from there to Nebraska in November 1878 to the farm south of Weeping Water, was for many years their home. (Rest of obit copy illegible). Marriage information: From St. Joseph's Catholic Church records in Douro, Canada: On the second of October, 1853, after one publication of the marriage bonds, the others being dispensed with, I, the undersigned priest have married Michael Bourke, son to John Bourke and Mary Conway, on the one part, to Bridget Bourke, daughter to William Bourke and Mary Tierny, both of Douro, in the presence of William O'Brian and Hanora Bourke." -Michael Mackey, CP
