MICHAEL LAMBE DIES AT HASTINGS HOSPITAL Mrs. Michael Lambe passed away at a hospital in Hastings on Friday morning, October 23, aged 72 years. The immediate cause of her death was heart trouble with complications. Bridget Travers was born in county Leitrim, Ireland, in 1853 and came to America when 18 years old. She was married to Michael Lambe in Illinois in 1887 [sic]. In 1888 they came to Nebraska and their present home, three and one half miles south west of Ulysses. Four sons blessed this union, Edward, Thomas, James and Lawrence. Thomas died in early manhood in 1901. The deceased was a lady of culture and to know her was to love her. The sympathy of the entire community is tendered the bereaved ones in the loss of their loved one. The remains were brought to Ulysses Saturday, the funeral services being held at the St. Marys church Friday morning at ten o'clock when a solemn requiem high mass was celebrated for the repose of her soul. Her cousin, the Rev. Father Cullen, of York, and Dean of the diocese, was the celebrant. Rev. Father Zalud, of Bee and Rev. Father Loughran, of Ulysses were deacon and sub deacon. Father Cullen spoke briefly and along the lines of reminiscence, dwelling upon the early life of the fair young girl and cousin, who came to America a few years later, reigning as wife and mother in a home made happy by harmony and contentment. Later, when he left his native land and came to this country, he had the pleasure of visiting his cousin, together with her family and friends. These pleasant visits were from the "green spots" in the memories of both. The esteem and affection entertained for Mrs. Lambe were evidenced by the presence of many old friends and by the beautiful floral tributes. A worthy and good woman has gone to her reward. The pall bearers were: Owen Gray sr., John McGowan, Pat Ward, Wm. Coyle, Hugh Kelly and Dan McGinness. - E. B. L.
