Description	:	Bruce was born on November 17, 1934 in Colfax, Washington to Lola and Lee Hughes. He married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Holbrook, 60 years ago on July 3, 1956. Bruce graduated from WSC with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1957. His first job, with John Deere, took his young family to Waterloo, Iowa. They remained there only a few years before moving to Renton, WA where Bruce worked for Boeing, then to Longview, WA where he worked for Longview Fiber. He married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Holbrook, 60 years ago on July 3, 1956. Bruce graduated from WSC with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1957. His first job, with John Deere, took his young family to Waterloo, Iowa. They remained there only a few years before moving to Renton, WA where Bruce worked for Boeing, then to Longview, WA where he worked for Longview Fiber. In 1964 Bruce and Cynthia moved their family of 7 to Uniontown. Bruce worked for Potlatch for the next 29 years as a project engineer and ultimately retired in 1993 as Manager of Mill Services. Bruce was active in the Knights of Columbus, the Saint Boniface Parish Council and continuously volunteered on community projects in Uniontown. He spent countless hours working on the Dahmen Barn, the Sage Bakery building, and Memorial Park. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in a multitude of sport and academic programs and spent many years coaching Little League and Babe Ruth teams in Uniontown and Colton. He became an LCSC women’s basketball fan, and a member of their scholarship club, watching his granddaughter play from 2011 to 2015. Bruce spent much of his retirement helping all his children with home building projects. Whether it was a new roof, a new garage, or a home remodel, he used to say he was busier and happier in retirement than at work! Bruce loved traveling the United States and meeting new people at every stop! Many of his travels were done from the seat of a Yamaha Venture! Bruce converted to Catholicism soon after his first children were born. His faith was a constant comfort and guiding force in his life.
