Description	:	SPENCER — Services for Bruno B. Boettcher, 92, of Spencer will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spencer with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Brockhaus Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Boettcher died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at the Butte Healthcare Center. ——— Bruno Bernhardt Boettcher was born June 3, 1913, to Gustav and Emma (Hasche) Boettcher on their homestead five miles north of Spencer. He was baptized Aug. 14, 1913, at Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Spencer. Bruno was confirmed April 1, 1928, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he was baptized. Bruno attended school at country school District 55. He graduated from the eighth grade on May 26, 1928. Bruno enjoyed playing baseball, croquet, skating, swimming, fishing, playing cards, listening to the radio, watching TV and drives around the country. Bruno loved music and sang on many different occasions, including church choir, Butte Healthcare church services, weddings and funerals, doing solos, duets and quartets with his brothers and others. He was a member on the Spencer Community Christmas Chorus for 20 years and Lake Andes Easter Chorus. Early employment included farming with his brothers on the family farm, helping with the building of the Spencer Niobrara River Dam for 30 cents per hour, haying in western Nebraska Sand Hills for $30 a month and hand-picking corn at Wakefield and Holt County for 4 cents per bushel. Bruno married LaVerne Ellermeier on June 30, 1942, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They lived on Bruno’s grandfather’s homestead most of their married life until they moved onto the Henry Ellermeier farm to help care for LaVerne’s parents. Bruno taught Sunday school for 25 years. He held many different church offices, including Sunday school superintendent, and was a member of Men’s Club since its inception. He was also a member of the Lions Club and Spencer Community Club. He became an EMT at the age of 70. Bruno and LaVerne enjoyed traveling many times to Europe, the Holy Land, Hawaii and throughout the United States. Bruno and LaVerne moved into the Country View Manor Assisted Living in 2002 and the Butte Healthcare Center in 2005. Survivors include his wife, LaVerne of Butte; sister, Ida Kaczor of Butte; sister-in-law, Lorene Beottcher of Spencer; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Those preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Oscar, Herman, Arthur and Herbert; and sister, Esther Kuhnel. Bruno was a very kind Christian man who will be missed by many family and friends.
