Mrs. Boettcher died, Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Butte Healthcare Center. LaVerne Louise Ellermeier Boettcher was born July 22, 1913 to Henry and Anna (Schwartz) Ellermeier at their farm home north of Spencer. She was baptized and later confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the country. She attended rural school district No. 55, graduating in 1927, and attended Spencer High School and later received her GED. She worked for a short time in Omaha and gave piano lessons for a time. She married Bruno Boettcher June 30, 1942 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, still in the country. Later the church and parsonage were moved to Spencer. They both loved the farm, nature, and animals, so they moved to a place homesteaded by Brunos grandfather. No buildings were on the place so they moved a house and barn and other buildings on it and planted trees. They bought the place and later the farm of LaVernes parents and helped care for them, especially her mother who was bedfast for two years. The Ellermeiers lived on this farm all their lives. Bruno and LaVerne loved music and they belonged to the Community Christmas Chorus the twenty years of its existence and five years at Lake Andes, SD for the Easter Cantata. LaVerne taught Sunday school at Immanuel for many years, was a member of the Young Peoples Society, choir, Dorcas Society, and Lutheran Womens Missionary Society. She was the church organist over a period of sixty years. She and Bruno loved to travel and took three tours to Europe, one to Israel, Hawaii, and to many historical and tourist places in the United States. LaVerne leaves to mourn her sisters in law, Lorene Boetcher of Spencer, NE, and Ida Kaczor of Butte, NE; and a host of nieces and nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruno B. Boettcher; her parents, Henry and Anna Ellermeier, and sisters, Jennie, Irene, and Helen. (brockhausfuneralhome.com/obituary)
