Burnette was born on December 2, 1922, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Herman and Clara (Winning) Stoffregen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Ingersoll, 93, of Waverly and formerly of Gilbert, AZ, passed away peacefully at Cedar Falls Health Center in Cedar Falls, early Wednesday morning, January 13, 2016. Burnette was born on December 2, 1922, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Herman and Clara (Winning) Stoffregen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended country schools in Blackhawk and Bremer counties. On February 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to Wayne Ingersoll at the Methodist Parsonage in Waverly. Together she and Wayne started their own trucking business, Ingersoll Transfer, Inc. both retiring in 1982. Burnette was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. While in AZ, she was a member of Christ Greenwood Lutheran Church in Gilbert. Burnette's life was truly based around family. She loved to host any family event, for her immediate or extended families. In 1966, Burnette and Wayne bought a cabin in Harpers Ferry, IA. This was their "happy place". The place they could get away from the business, enjoy fishing, while taking their children and nieces and nephews for a weekend of fun. Many memories were made at this happy place, simply known to all as "the cabin". Burnette loved to embroider, bake and spending time with family. Her favorite pastime was reading her immense library of cookbooks. She was well known for her sponge cakes that were a staple for all birthdays and family gatherings, as well as her famed pineapple pies. In 2004, she and Wayne started a new adventure. They moved from their acreage in Waverly and relocated to their daughter, Rebecca's (Chuck) home in Gilbert, AZ. In Arizona they were able to escape the cold Iowa winters and also provide Wayne some freedoms in his progressing Parkinson's. Wayne preceded her in death on Jan 19, 2006. Following Wayne's death, she made yearly journeys back to Waverly to spend the summer with her son, Steve (Tammy) and his family. In 2015, she moved permanently back to Waverly until her death. Burnette is survived by her three children and their spouses, Rebecca (Chuck) Pritchard of Gilbert, AZ, Steve (Tammy) Ingersoll of Waverly, and Cheryl (Dick) Ingersoll of Cedar Falls; 6 grandchildren, 2 step-grandsons; 13 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Don (Marlys) Stoffregen of Cedar Falls, Jerry (Susan) Stoffregen and Richard (Susie) Stoffregen all of Waverly. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Wayne; her parents, a brother, Orville Stoffregen, two sisters, Burdine Cooper and Ramona Benning; nephews Scott Stoffregen and Larry (Butch) Cooper and a niece Wanda Tollenaar. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, with Pastor Joyce Sandberg officiating.
