Description	:	Burnetta J. Melby, 79, of Soldier died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Soldier Lutheran Church in Soldier, with Pastor Steven Hetzel officiating. Buril will be in Soldier Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa. Burnetta was born Jan. 27, 1927, at Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Virgil (Ball) Larson. She was raised and educated in the Ute area. She married Milton Melby on Feb. 15, 1944, at Elk Point, S.D. At that time Milton was serving in the U. S. Navy. After his discharge, they located to Pisgah, Iowa, and then moved to Soldier, where they made their home. Because of ill health, Burnetta entered Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa. She was a member of soldier Lutheran Church. Those who knew Burnetta can attest she was an excellent cook. She also loved music and enjoyed singing, sewing and quilting. Another of her enjoyments was traveling, and she and Milton spent time in Texas and then in Arizona during the winters. Her greatest enjoyment though ws the time spent with her family. Survivors include her husband, Milton of Soldier; two sons and their wives, Bryand and Pamela Melby of Omaha, and Kevin and Bonnie Melby of Soldier; two daughters, Sherry and her husband, Ron Little of Soldier, and Marilyn Kunze of Ute; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons, Keith LeRoyce and Ricky Ray; two sisters, Ruth Hagerdon and Lavina Price; and a brother, LeRoyce Larson.
