Description	:	GALIVANTS FERRY--Mr. B. Vernon Squires, age 63, of Pee Dee Rd. South, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2006 at the Medical University of South Carolina surrounded by his family who loved him. Mr. Squires was born in Galivants Ferry, the son of the late Burnie Vernon and Ora Mae Reynolds Squires. After retiring from farming, he worked with the Horry County Environmental Services where he retired after eighteen years of service. Vernon Squires, age 63, of Pee Dee Rd. South, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2006 at the Medical University of South Carolina surrounded by his family who loved him. Mr. Squires was born in Galivants Ferry, the son of the late Burnie Vernon and Ora Mae Reynolds Squires. After retiring from farming, he worked with the Horry County Environmental Services where he retired after eighteen years of service. He was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church where he was an active member of the choir and the United Methodist Men. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Mr. Squires was predeceased by one grandson, Bradley Squires; his father and mother-in-law, Emory and Getha Skipper; two sisters-in-law, Susan and Gloria Squires; and two brothers-in-law, Richard and Joe Skipper. Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary Skipper Squires, of Galivants Ferry, are one son, Dean and his wife, Renee Squires, of Galivants Ferry; two daughters, Kim Clark and her husband, Mike, of Galivants Ferry, Danielle West and her husband, Brian, of Conway; seven grandchildren, Kasey Hucks and her husband, Jason, Lindsey Squires, Codey Squires, April Clark, Katie Clark, all of Galivants Ferry, Emory and Mary Ashley West of Conway; six brothers, Reynolds Squires of Aynor, Charles Squires and his wife, Marilyn, of Conway, Bruce Squires and his wife, Judy, Joe Squires and his wife, Jackie, Mark Squires and Dyral Squires, all of Aynor. He is also survived by his extended family, Grace and Raleigh Johnson, Bill and Janice Skipper, all of Conway, Wilmina Skipper and Corlous Skipper, Gilbert and Christine Lewis, the Rev. Johnny and Wanda Jenerette, Payne and Gail Skipper, Sammy and Geraldine Skipper, all of Galivants Ferry, Parma Lee and Virginia Skipper of Kansas City, and numberous nieces and nephews. Mr. Squires was a loving husband, dedicated father and grandfather and a wonderful friend to all that knew him. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 2, 2006 at Pisgah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Henry Altman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
