Allen, had passed away at the St. Clare hospital in this city, following an illness of nearly two months. Mrs. Allen suffered a stroke of paralysis at her home in Rupert, Idaho, on Jan. 23, 1946, and she was returned to the local hospital a few weeks ago, where she passed away. Burta L. Allen was born Aug. 2, 1870, at Bucyrus, Ohio. She moved to Indiana as a young woman where she taught school for a time and on Nov. 21, 1893 she was united in marriage to Arthur L. Allen. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1943. The family made their home on a farm at Markle, Indiana, until 1910 when they moved to Fort Benton, where they pioneered on a homestead in the Pleasant Valley section, where they resided until 1940 when they retired from the ranch and lived for a time in Fort Benton and also for a short time in Conrad. In 1943 they moved to Rupert, Idaho, to make their home until Mrs. Allen was stricken with paralysis. Mrs. Allen was a charter member of the First Christian church at Fort Benton and she has two sons in the ministry of that church. Mrs. Allen was loved and highly respected by all who knew her and her passing will be mourned by a large circle of friends. She is survived by her husband and five sons, Cecil W. of Fort Benton; Rev. Ross J., Fort Morgan, Colo.; Howard C. of Fort Benton; Rev. Durward C. of Kalispell; Jay W. of Conrad; one daughter, Mrs. Jess McDonald of Highwood; and 31 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the First Christian church in Fort Benton on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Wallace Smith, pastor. The services were attended by a large number of friends who gathered to pay their final respects to a highly respected citizen and friend. Burial was made in Highland cemetery in Great Falls.
