Allen, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 1985, in the Chouteau County District Hospital. He was born March 23, 1900 in Markle, Indiana. He moved west with his parents and family in 1910, where his father took up a homestead in Pleasant Valley, north of Fort Benton. Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 23 Jan 1985 Howard C. Allen Howard C. Allen, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 1985, in the Chouteau County District Hospital. He was born March 23, 1900 in Markle, Indiana. He moved west with his parents and family in 1910, where his father took up a homestead in Pleasant Valley, north of Fort Benton. At the age of 23 years he moved to the Highwood North Bench area and farmed there until 1945. He then purchased the R. D. Moede farm in Pleasant Valley and continued farming in that area until he retired. He was a charter member of the First Christian Church of Fort Benton and had served as a deacon, elder and trustee. He served as Chouteau County Commissioner from 1955 until 1962. He also served on the Fort Benton City Council and the board of directors of Sunrise Bluffs. Survivors include his son, Lloyd Allen of Fort Benton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther McDonald of Darby, Mont. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle, whom he married Nov. 9. 1925; and two sons, Earl and Donald. Services were held at the First Christian Church Monday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Lyle Burwell officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. --- Parents: Arthur L. Allen and Burta M. Littler
