Description	:	Burvia married Mildred Ruth Highley in Converse, Indiana, on November 28, 1934. He was a 1932 graduate of Howard County Jackson Township High School where he enjoyed playing on the school's basketball team. He especially enjoyed playing in the 1932 sectional tournament. He began farming with his father in 1934 and continued throughout his lifetime. He rented a farm in southern Wabash County when he first began and moved to his present home site in 1945. In 1932 he worked for a year at the Spencer Cardinal Factory packing radios. He enjoyed watching IU basketball and any sporting event his grandchildren... He was a member of the National Rifle Association and an avid hunter; he enjoyed hunting coyote, deer, fox, and pheasant. He was a conservationist. He allowed Iowa State University to establish a wind-break study on his farm. He won special recognition and an award for his work in conservation by the Wabash County Soil and Water Conservation District for "Burvia's Shelter Belt." He was a strong Republican and spent many years as a precinct committeeman beginning in 1953. He served on the election board and various other positions such as Sheriff and Inspector of Waltz Township. He served on the Wabash County Plan Commission Appeals Board; retiring in 1987. He was a longtime member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church and helped rebuild it twice after it was destroyed by fire. He also served as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years.
